Happy Spring everyone!! Just a quick note from the Coordinator of the Community Gardening Network of Ottawa:

Want Dirt? Got Dirt?

Dirtmasters - Networking event for new farmers and landowners, hosted in partnership by Just Food and NFU-O Local 362

Are you a landowner looking for someone to farm a couple of acres (or less, or more - it's up to you!)? Are you a farmer looking for land? Join us for the first ever Dirtmasters event, Tuesday April 4, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. EDT at the Hintonburg Community Centre, 1064 Wellington St W, Ottawa [free event and free parking in back + street parking].

This networking event will include a short presentation on the question "What do you need to know about making a fair deal for farmland?". Think you have your own personal insights to offer, based on experience? Come on down, or contact
phil@justfood.ca<mailto:phil@justfood.ca> to share.

This event is a great opportunity to learn about land tenancy: we'll have preliminary info on land agreements, access, leases, loans, mortgages, farm finances, along with where to go to get your hands on more!

With full introductions, you just might find a farmer who can turn your vacant field into a productive panorama, or a landlord with the space-and the opportunity-that you've been looking for! At the same time, you will connect with Just Food, NFU, and networks of folks who can helps you with your next steps, and your next questions.

Refreshments provided!

Location: Hintonburg Community Centre, 1064 Wellington St W, Ottawa
