Subject: City Potting Soil Access
Hello Everyone,
The City of
Ottawa has additional potting soil for amending your beds available free of
charge from the Trail Road facility: https://www.google.ca/maps/place/4475+Trail+Rd,+Richmond,+ON+K0A+2Z0/@45.233951,-75.7760525,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4ccdfb4e7c96bb27:0xbcf912ed1ad084bd!8m2!3d45.233951!4d-75.7738638?hl=en
If
you are interested in accessing this resource let me know & I'll ensure you
are set up to do so. You'd have to either rent a truck, or bring your
vehicle/shovels to the facility to pick it up. Unless you
have a tri-axle dump truck, potting soil would have be loaded by hand, by
yourself.
This is a
good resource for gardens that wish to add some fertility to your plots.
Mixing this into your raised beds (for you raised bed gardeners) can go a long
way. For those of you with large in-ground plots, it may be worth renting
a truck to pick up a big load!
Each garden
is entitled to 1 yard per plot (although for smaller beds <100 square feet
this would be way too much), while supplies last.
Thanks
& have a great day,
Jordan
